FashionableMiles Special Report: Home Renovation Recap- Backyard edition.

If you follow me on instagram, you may know that we’ve been renovating our backyard for a while now.  We contracted out some of the work and in an effort to save some $$, decided to do the landscaping ourselves.  Batch is super handy and honestly could have done the entire project himself, but after watching the workers on the patio, I’m glad we chose to spend the $$ to get it done.

I’ll spare you the wordy details, but some outside contacting followed by a marathon of landscaping turned our 80’s style yard from this:

Into this:

We have a few more finishing touches to add (furniture, etc) and I’ll try to get a better full yard shot, but to quote a good friend who has been to our house numerous times “it looks like you got a whole new pool.”  I’ve loved having a pool in our backyard but the rest of the decking and landscape were so bad that I didn’t like to look out there.  Now, it makes me smile every time I see it.

The weekend in stat form:

Miles Run: 32 (7.5 Thursday; 20.2 Saturday; 4.25 Sunday)
Hours landscaping: 26.2 (6 Thurs; 5 Friday (all Batch); 6.2 Saturday; 9 Sunday (Mom and Batch))

Oh, and in case you were wondering about the dog in the first pic, he supervised and highly approves of the outcome.

If you need me, I’ll be sitting on the back deck…#nuuntail in hand.

  1. Yay for a new backyard! Our pool/backyard is very sparse, it’s kind of like swimming in an outdoor prison cell.

Wow! That looks awesome! We’re about to start building a deck in our backyard. We’ll be putting in a pool in a year or 2. I hope you enjoy your new backyard!

Looks gorgeous! And wow- that is a lot of landscaping time. Impressive work- I didn’t know Batch was so handy!
